Camp Counsellor

The Willowgrove Counselling staff are directly responsible for an assigned group of campers with the assistance of a Co-Counsellor. Counselling staff are responsible for the overall health and safety of each camper, as well as ensuring that each camper is enjoying and participating in the camp program. Counselling staff are expected to set good examples for our campers through facilitating and participating in camp programming, being a positive influence, and caring for each camper's needs. 

Employment Dates:  

Counselling staff must work a minimum of 6 out of 8 camp weeks. Staff are expected to commit to working all 5 days of each week. Individual days off requests will be approved by the Camp Manager with sufficient notice. Camp Weeks are

Week 1: July 2 – 5

Week 2: July 8 – 12

Week 3: July 15 – 19

Week 4: July 22 – 26

Week 5: July 29 – August 2

Week 6: August 6 - 9 

Week 7: August 12 – 16

Week 8: August 19 - 23

Staff training is mandatory for all staff and will take place on June 8, 9, 22, 23  unless other arrangements have been made with the Camp Manager. 

Position Requirements:

  • Counselling staff must be age 16 by the end of the year

  • Ability to communicate and work as a member of a team

  • Able to be active and engaged for the full camp day (up to 8 hours). Most areas of our site are accessible and we are able to make accommodations for any campers or staff that require

  • Standard First Aid/CPR-C and Mental Health First aid are not required but strongly recommended

  • Clean vulnerable sector police record check
