Staffing Coordinator (Staff Services)

As the staff services coordinator, you are part of the Leadership team (resource staff) assigned to provide support to staff with conflict management, mental health and wellness checks and overall staff morale. You will provide extra support for counsellors as a mediator for cabin conflict, and give assistance for counsellors during devotions and siesta as required. You may also be required to organize and lead a session during staff training to prepare the staff for the summer. You will also directly support and supervise the two Section Head counsellors and support them as they support counsellors with day to day issues as they arise. You may be asked to fill in for staff on days off and our in cabin as the need arises. You will work closely with Camper Services to support staff and campers and will work closely with the Assistant Director and Director to monitor and provide feedback to counesllors.

 As part of the Leadership Staff, you must also respect and follow the rules and policies of Fraser Lake Camp. Some of the weekly tasks that you will perform are:

  • Encourage staff to seek leadership opportunities at camp

  • Assist counsellors with campers who are in need of extra assistance

  • Be the point person for staff when they need support and advice 

  • Contact staff in May and introduce yourself to them, let them know you’re here to support them

  • Assist the Program Directors with the set up and running of theme dinners, special events, tuck, etc. if needed

  • Participate in camp activities such as campfire, chapel, wide game etc.

  • Be available to staff members who need support dealing with conflict, support staff in resolving conflict. Restorative Justice. When problems arise, speak up, not out.

  • Help lead staff meetings 

  • Assist with serving banquet dinner

  • Plan and implement activities for staff that help to increase and maintain overall moral

  • Encourage staff to take care of their self-care and provide support and advice in helping them do so

  • Assist the Program Director(s) on the final morning with set up and running the final slideshow

  • Assist in supervising and leading camp programming for campers who remain at camp during change-overs

  • Oversee, with the help of section heads and Assistant director and director, writing and implementing staff check ins and evaluations. Both mid and final summer evaluations.

  • Oversee / support Cabin Section heads-ensuring they have the skills, support they need to assist counsellors 

  • Be prepared to go above and beyond your job description! ☺
